The Temples of Karnak
by R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz
Hardcover slipcased volume, 9 x 12, 596 photographs, 120 line illustrations, 640 pp.
De Lubicz (1897-1961) was one of the most important esoteric philosophers and Egyptologists of the century. Although Gurdjieff and he never met, a great many of his ideas and insights are in agreement with Gurdjieff's. Living for 15 years in Thebes (modern-day Luxor), where some 85% of the monuments of ancient Egypt are located, de Lubicz resolutely studied the temple complex at Karnak and this book is the result. Because of vandalism over the years, this volume is the only complete photographic record of the Karnak site.
